Creating a topographic plan

A topographic plan is a detailed graphical representation of the topography, features and surfaces of the land. This plan includes information on topography, water bodies, buildings, vegetation, infrastructure, individual elements. The topographic plan also shows the location of all underground utilities. Topographic plans are an important tool in various engineering and construction projects, such as building construction, road construction, water supply and sewerage system planning, design, etc.

The components of a topographic plan may include:

  • Relief information: Shows changes in elevation within the site, as well as dips, rises, slopes and other terrain features;

  • Hydrography: shows rivers, lakes, ponds and other bodies of water;

  • Vegetation and cover: The vegetation, the area covered by it, is shown. Vegetation is divided into groups;

  •  Infrastructure and elements: Shows roads, bridges, buildings and other features;

Topographic plans are an essential material for design, site planning, especially to take into account the impact of the surrounding environment on the construction project. These plans help engineers and architects to make accurate analyses and take the right decisions, taking into account the environmental conditions.

Creation of an execution plan

The execution plan is a document that graphically represents the actual execution of the project. The execution survey allows a comparison of how the design characteristics have been realized in the field. How design volumes match actual volumes, which often allows construction costs to be controlled. An execution survey is also needed to put a building into use and, in some cases, to sort out ownership rights.

Delineation of points/construction axis

Each point in the geodetic network is assigned coordinates that indicate its exact position in nature. These coordinates allow the surveyor to accurately represent them in the field.

When this is necessary:

  • Construction axis - points are marked in the terrain before the building is constructed so that the location and correct geometry of the building can be monitored throughout construction;

  •  Plotting engineering networks - accurate representation of networks in the terrain;

  •  Representation of previously surveyed boundaries in the terrain;

  • and other necessary elements, points or lines in accordance with the design or coordinate system.
